Seeq teams up on industrial IoT for utilities, oil and gas, manufacturing in Asia Pacific

Seattle-based industrial analytics company Seeq, a star of industrial IoT on the venture capital scene, is targeting the power and utilities, oil and gas, semiconductor, chemical, and process manufacturing industries, after striking a deal with Philippines-based industrial IoT provider Calibr8 Systems.

Seeq, founded in 2014, raised $24 million from investors at the start of last year, and $23 million in Series B funding in mid-2018, in a round led by the Altira Group, with participation as well from Chevron Technology Ventures, Siemens-backed next47, Second Avenue Partners, plus existing investors including Saudi Aramco and Cisco.

Its software applications, Seeq Workbench and Seeq Organizer, seek to enable industrial organizations to analyze and distribute insights to improve production outcomes. Both are designed to run on-premise, on Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platforms, or in mixed edge and cloud setups. It is an AWS Industrial Competency Partner, and supports Amazon Redshift, S3, and SageMaker.

It connects to an extensive set of automation vendor data storage platforms for on premise engagements including OSIsoft, Siemens, GE, Honeywell, Emerson Automation Solutions, Inductive Automation, AVEVA, AspenTech, Yokogawa, and others. It builds on machine learning and big data technologies to speed ‘time to insight’.

Calibr8 Systems, founded in 2014, is the only OSIsoft reseller with ‘premier’ partner status in Asia-Pacific region, and has certifications with both Seeq and OSIsoft’s PI System. The partnership with Seeq centres on diagnostic and predictive analytics to enable greater operational efficiency and deeper insight across organizations, the pair said.

David Lim, chief executive at Calibr8, said: “Our customers look to us to provide solutions to their business challenges as well as opportunities to leverage technology to advance their digital journey. Seeq enables customers to rapidly explore key problems and create a solution that solves it.”

Will Knight, head of partner sales at Seeq, said: “Thought leaders like Calibr8 with local customer and vertical market expertise are critical to the success of Seeq. Our customers rely upon them to deliver advanced analytics solutions that provide insight and drive results.”
