NEW YORK-Millicom International Cellular said it plans to overlay its TDMA networks in Guatemala (Comcel) and Paraguay (Telecel) with GSM 800 MHz networks. The operator said it has selected the supplier for the networks, which will be operational during the second quarter of 2004, although it did not name the supplier.
“This move is part of our ongoing strategy to roll out GSM services across our operations in order to create further product and procurement synergies,” said Marc Beuls, president and chief executive officer of MIC.
