Citing its stringent testing standards, Verizon Wireless has reportedly delayed the launch of its Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. supplied CDMA/GSM world phone until early next year after previously announcing plans to launch the device before the end of this year.
The device is built to work on Verizon’s CDMA network as well as the GSM networks of parent company, Vodafone Group plc. A Verizon spokeswoman said the carrier is still conducting tests on the phone, but there are no problems with the device.
Analysts noted the handset is a crucial part of Verizon Wireless placating minority parent company Vodafone Group plc’s desire for a stronger tie with the United States’ largest wireless operator.
