MUNICH-Women, as well as men, are optimistic about the future of UMTS, according to the results of a survey conducted by Siemens AG of 3,000 consumers in Germany, France and Great Britain.
The survey showed an equal number of men and women currently own mobile phones. But more women than men send SMS messages, and women expressed more interest than men in sending photos and videos via MMS. Women also showed interest in location-based services and traffic-information applications.
In addition, half of male and half of female interviewees believe UMTS will be a market success, and according to Siemens, the majority of those interviewed said they want to acquire a UMTS phone.
