ATLANTA—Cingular Wireless L.L.C. launched a newly redesigned Web site, trimming out some of the previous page’s many links and going for a cleaner, less busy look.
“It’s more visually aesthetic,” said Cingular spokesman Ritch Blasi. “It’s just making it easier for customers to access the products and services.”
The new page offers a number of simple graphics in lieu of tiny text. Instead of navigational buttons, the main section of the page has a navigational slider that moves among five topics—network, plans, phones, services and “Why Cingular.”
Blasi added that Cingular wants to increase the traffic to its Web site, which offers a lower cost of acquisition than sales through traditional channels.
However, it appears the new site still has at least some kinks for the carrier to iron out; a link for “3G phones” takes shoppers to a page that lists all of Cingular’s phones, both 2G and 3G.
