LOS ANGELES—Amp’d Mobile added another distribution partner, inking a deal to stock its handsets through more than 600 Circuit City Stores Inc. outlets beginning next month.
The deal marks a concession of sorts for Amp’d, which had hoped to keep its brick-and-mortar distribution at a minimum as it focused on less-expensive online sales efforts. But the MVNO scored its first big-box retail partner in June, selling its entire line of phones and services through Best Buy, and other retail agreements may be in the offing. The Best Buy deal helped boost sales for Amp’d significantly.
“Circuit City customers will be a part of a powerful mobile entertainment experience at an affordable price point with the peace of mind that they are receiving exceptional coverage,” said Geoff Fishman, senior vice president of Amp’d. “We are confident they will embrace Amp’d as enthusiastically as our existing subscribers have.”
