LONDON—Telcogames Ltd. said it acquired Finnish publisher Fathammer in an effort to expand its portfolio of 3-D mobile games.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, although Fathammer investors 3i and Nexit Ventures each took a stake in Telcogames.
Fathammer, which will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Telcogames, has gained traction with next-generation games for both smart phones and mass-market devices. The acquisition also gives Telcogames a foothold in Finland and South Korea.
“Fathammer immediately adds 24 exclusive 3-D titles to our portfolio, most of which have not been distributed yet,” said Jamie Conyngham, Telcogames’ chief executive officer. “Fathammer will continue producing superb 3-D games for third parties, such as Disney’s Narnia and Eidos’ Tomb Raider, as well as their own original IP.”
The move is the latest in a long string of mergers and acquisitions in the mobile gaming space, the most notable of which was last year’s purchase of Jamdat Mobile Inc. by Electronic Arts Inc. for $680 million.
