BELLEVUE, Wash.—Wireless Services Corp. announced the acquisition of off-deck content provider Mobile Media North America.
Terms of the all-cash deal were not disclosed.
WSC said it plans to merge the operations of the company into SinglePoint, an aggregation business designed to allow content owners and marketing companies to reach wireless users. The former subsidiary of European content provider Mobile Media produces and distributes branded, made-for-mobile entertainment and carries out mobile-marketing campaigns.
Mobile Media North America has relationships with every Tier 1 carrier, and the company’s content partners include ABC News, The Weather Channel and The New York Times. Its 14 employees will be added to WSC’s current workforce of 75, and the division will operate as SinglePoint.
WSC delivers premium services including text and picture messaging and offers wireless Web services for carriers.
“The (acquisition) does speak to our ability to supply media and advertising companies (with wireless offerings) as they try to mobilize,” said Doug Busk, general manager of SinglePoint. “Media and advertising companies are leveraging the third screen in a way that is more personalized or more localized than any other media we’ve seen.”
