LONDON—Moonlight Mobile launched an application that allows mobile-phone users to browse Amazon products and information from their handset.
The company said users can check product prices and availability, read buyer ratings and add items to their shopping cart or wish list for future purchase. When users hit the check-out button on their handset, the system sends an e-mail to their inbox so users can finish the transaction from their desktop computer.
The offering will be available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France and Germany. Users will be assessed a one-time fee to download the application.
The application, which will be available this quarter, builds on the company’s Mobile Auctions application for eBay shoppers, said the company.
Interestingly, both Amazon and eBay already offer limited access to their Internet sites through WAP pages.
