SAN DIEGO-Leap Wireless International Inc. reported last week that its Alaska Native Broadband L.L.C. partner launched Cricket wireless service in Colorado Springs, Colo. Leap noted that following the launch its network now covers 3,295 square miles along the Colorado Front Range, from Fort Collins to Pueblo, and around 86 percent of the state’s population.
ANB picked up 10 megahertz of spectrum covering Colorado Springs last year during the Federal Communications Commission’s Auction 58. The carrier also acquired eight additional licenses covering Cincinnati; Lexington and Louisville, Ky.; Austin, San Antonio, El Paso and Bryan, Texas; and Las Cruces, N.M. Leap launched the El Paso and Las Cruces markets late last month.
