AT&T Wireless enhances mMode

AT&T Wireless Services Inc. unveiled enhancements to its mMode wireless data service, which the carrier said are designed to provide customers with faster and easier access to content with an increased level of simplicity and personalization.

RCR Wireless News in October first reported that AT&T Wireless planned to relaunch its mMode service.

The enhancements include more user-friendly content menus and navigation options designed to allow access to popular applications in three clicks or less. In addition a new My mMode option allows subscribers to create a customer home page that can provide access to many applications in just two clicks.

“We’re taking mMode to the next level,” said Andre Dahan, president of AT&T Wireless Mobile Multimedia Services. “We’ve passed the early-adopter state, and these new enhancements are designed to bring mMode to the mass market.”

AT&T Wireless added that the updated mMode offering would use more XHTML-based content that would allow for richer graphics and enable a broader base of content providers to supply their products and services. The carrier noted the upgraded mMode offering would cost the same as the older version with rate plans beginning at $3 per month for a pay-as-you-go offering and up to $20 per month for 8 Megabytes of data transmission.
