University students embrace mobile marketing service

ATLANTA-MoBull Messenger, a wireless coupon and information service used by students and staff at the University of South Florida, has grown more than 700 percent since September 2002.

The service is attracting 10 new subscribers per day and now has nearly 6,500 users, according to Air2Web, which provides the wireless platform for the messaging service. Through MoBull Messenger, USF students, faculty, staff, alumni and nearby residents receive discount coupons from area restaurants, sporting events, nightclubs and retail stores to their wireless devices. More than 100 retailers have participated. Subscribers can also opt to receive real-time campus information updates.
