Bay Area commuter rail trials Wi-Fi from PointShot

OAKLAND, Calif.-PointShot Wireless launched a three-month Wi-Fi trial with Amtrak Capitol Corridor’s intercity train service, which operates in California’s Bay Area. PointShot’s RailPoint solution will allow rail passengers to wirelessly connect to the Internet while traveling along the train’s 170-mile corridor.

“We installed PointShot’s Wi-Fi solution due to the growing demand from our customers to include this type of service in our offerings,” explained Jim Allison of Capitol Corridor. “We are allowing them to make the best use of their time while traveling, which in turn leads to increased customer loyalty and new passengers who opt to take the train rather than drive or fly.”
