ATLANTA-XcelleNet Inc. has launched its XcelleNet Security Framework initiative to minimize security risks mobile sales and field service workers often face.
Through the initiative, XcelleNet is offering standalone security products, as well as establishing partnerships with security vendors to create comprehensive solutions for enterprises. According to the company, its Framework initiative addresses five critical factors for implementing comprehensive security for wireless networks: secure the device; guard against malicious code; secure connections to corporate networks; block network-based intrusion; and centralize control of policies.
XcelleNet also introduced its Afaria Security Manager to secure mobile devices and the data on them. The product features passwords, encryption, lock-down and data-wipe capabilities and centralized policy-based management. “While they play an increasingly valuable role, mobile devices are not only physically difficult to monitor and maintain but also create very specific application and data management needs,” said Joan Herbig, chief executive officer of XcelleNet. “Afaria Security Manager breaks down these security threats that keep many enterprises from reaping all benefits of mobile solutions.”
