One-fourth of businesses plan to switch carriers with WLNP

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Businesses are likely to react to wireless local number portability, according to new research from The Management Network Group Inc. The research also showed wireless service continues to penetrate U.S. businesses, with 45 percent of respondents saying they plan to increase future spending with wireless carriers.

TMNG’s research found that 24 percent of businesses with more than 500 employees will likely switch once WLNP becomes available, and 33 percent of businesses that use more than one carrier will likely consolidate their corporate wireless accounts to one carrier. Billing problems topped business complaints, with 44 percent of businesses saying they had to contact their carriers four times before their billing problems were resolved.

“Businesses and consumers have spoken and WLNP is unlocking deep subscriber dissatisfaction,” said Rich Nespola, TMNG’s chief executive officer. “Whoever loses these lucrative business accounts not only gives up significant margins, but also pivotal future subscriber relationships.”
