CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Analyst firm Communications Industry Researchers claimed the market for wireless local area network chips will rise to $1.7 billion in 2007 from $938 million in 2003 based on a survey of original equipment manufacturers and original design manufacturers.
“The survey reveals that OEMs/ODMs place a high value on WLAN chipsets that offer enhanced transmission range and receiver sensitivity and CIR believes that this could be an important source of competitive advantage for smaller chipset manufacturers trying to compete with the likes of Agere, Atheros, Broadcom, Intel, Intersil and Texas Instruments,” said the report.
