Western Wireless unveils marketing campaign

BELLEVUE, Wash.-Western Wireless Corp. unveiled an integrated marketing campaign that the carrier termed a “new brand position and identity using the Cellular One name” throughout its 19-state coverage area.

Western Wireless said the new campaign for Cellular One will focus on the company’s hometown attributes in its rural markets with a tagline “Proud to be the next best way to say hello.”

“Cellular One was America’s first and most recognized national wireless brand,” said Jerry Gallegos, vice president of marketing for Western Wireless. “However, the marketplace has become increasingly competitive, and our new re-positioning efforts allow us to build on our high brand awareness while re-focusing the brand for our regional markets.”

The campaign is scheduled to begin July 13 in all of Western Wireless’ company-owned stores and through its indirect dealer locations and will include print, television and radio ads as well as merchandising materials, in-store displays, Cellular One’s Web site and all other customer-facing communications.
