STOCKHOLM, Sweden-Scandinavian Airlines signed a contract with Connexion by Boeing to install wireless broadband onboard its aircraft.
Installation will begin in February 2004, with SAS’s entire long-haul fleet to be equipped a year later, the company said.
Using the service, SAS passengers can connect their portable PCs and personal digital assistants to the Internet and company intranets, in addition to sending and receiving e-mail with attachments.
The airline said it is working on a host of payment options, including credit card payments and subscription options.
Germany’s Lufthansa Airlines announced a similar agreement with Connexion earlier this year.
