Qwest, Touch America agree on service continuity

DENVER-Qwest Communications International Inc. and Touch America Holdings Inc. reported an agreement in principle to continue to provide services between the companies that maintain service quality and reliability for Qwest and Touch America customers during Touch America’s bankruptcy proceeding.

The agreement calls for Qwest to continue to purchase voice and data transport services in the 14 states where it provides local service from Touch America and for Qwest to purchase certain fiber routes from Touch America.

In addition, the settlement terms, which still must be approved by a bankruptcy court, call for the termination of all disputes and litigation between Touch America and Qwest arising from a March 24, 2003, Interim Opinion and Award issued in the arbitration of billing disputes as well as the payment due from Qwest to Touch America next February for the purchase of Touch America’s investment in TW Wireless.
