Vodafone does management shuffle

LONDON-Vodafone Group plc announced several management changes yesterday in a move that seems to focus on third-generation marketing as the operator readies launches in several countries.

Thomas Geitner, currently chief executive officer of global products and services and responsible for the company’s successful Vodafone Live launch, was named chief technology officer and will head group technology and business integration. Vodafone said the new group will support introducing 3G products and services.
In addition, Peter Bamford, currently CEO of the Northern Europe, Middle East and Africa region and a company director, was named chief marketing officer for group marketing. This group will provide coordination across all marketing activities, including branding, product development, content management, partner networks and global accounts, Vodafone said.

The announcements come as current Chief Executive Christopher Gent prepares to hand over the company’s reins to Arun Sarin at the end of July.
