SAN JOSE, Calif.-The WiMAX Forum, an organization dedicated to the IEEE 802.16 and ETSI HiperMAN wireless MAN specifications, announced it has 18 new member companies and has completed initial system profiles for the interoperability of products operating in the 2 GHz to 11 GHz bands.
WiMAX’s new members include Andrew Corp., Atheros, China Motion Technologies, Compliance Certification Services, LCC International, News IQ, Powerwave Technologies, Redline Communications, RF Integration, RF Magic, SiWave, SiWorks, SR Telecom, Stratex Networks, TowerStream, TurboConcept, Wavesat Wireless and Winova Wireless.
“Just as the Wi-Fi Alliance achieved initial success by creating industry consensus around a common specification, Wi-MAX has proven with its expanding membership and progress designating initial system profiles that it is poised to drive the development of cost-effective, industry standards-based products,” explained Margaret LaBrecque, WiMAX president.
