NEW YORK-Would you like wireless Internet access with that burger?
Fast food customers at select New York City McDonald’s Corp. restaurants are now also being offered wireless Internet access, compliments of Cometa Networks Inc., the AT&T-Intel-IBM joint wireless Internet venture group formed late last year.
Under the pilot program, customers get one hour of free high-speed, broadband Internet access with the purchase of an Extra Value Meal. Customers with 802.11b-enabled laptop computers can then cash in their 60 minutes of use while eating at McDonald’s. The companies expect the service to attract New York’s mobile work force and students.
