TOKYO-Access, a Tokyo-based venture, announced it will provide i-mode technology to Samsung Electronics and NEC. It will be the first time Access will provide NetFront, its original browsing software for NTT DoCoMo’s i-mode service to Korea-based Samsung.
Based on the contract, Access will provide Compact NetFront Plus, as well as JV-Lite2 Wireless Edition, a Java-based executive environment for Samsung. Due to the agreement, Samsung handset users will be able to enjoy almost a full set of i-mode services, including screen savers, ring tones and games, Access said. Access said it would gear up alliances with foreign carriers and venders.
