LogicaCMG, InphoMatch connect inter-carrier text messaging systems

CHANTILLY, Va.-The march toward global interoperable text messaging took another step forward as messaging giant LogicaCMG Wireless Networks and InphoMatch Inc. announced they will connect their inter-carrier text messaging systems.

Text and multimedia messaging providers have recently begun harping on the need for global messaging interoperability, which would ensure messages would reach their target regardless of network technology or geographic location. And various messaging providers have announced plans along these lines.

Under this latest deal, InphoMatch and LogicaCMG said they signed a peering agreement to connect their inter-carrier networks, a move they said will ensure messages from their respective carrier customers will be delivered.

“LogicaCMG’s work with the four major Canadian mobile operators and its contribution to the European SMS phenomenon demonstrate the potential opportunity for U.S. carriers to experience the type of revenue growth that European carriers generate from their SMS networks,” said DeWayne Nelon, senior vice president of LogicaCMG’s North American business.
