SEATTLE, Wash.-Microsoft Corp. said it has changed the name of its Windows Server product from .Net to Windows Server 2003, the fourth time the product has experienced a name change. It succeeds the Windows 2000 Server.
“The aim of the name change is to clarify the messaging around the product,” said Paul Randle, Microsoft’s Windows server product manager. “We felt that using .Net was potentially confusing for customers because we were using it almost as a version name, whereas the .Net is an entity in its own right.”
