Vendors enter phone recycling pledge

GENEVA-Ten major electronics manufacturers, including Nokia, Motorola Inc. and Samsung, have pledged to help safely dispose of used mobile phones.

The pact, signed with the United Nations Environment Program, calls on industry players to participate in working groups to develop programs for collecting used phones. Developing countries will be assisted in drafting laws and regulations and setting up recycling programs.
