NEW YORK-SK Telecom, which is conducting a field trial of Flarion Technologies’ mobile broadband system, has made a strategic investment of undisclosed size in the U.S. company.
Building on flash-OFDM, which Bell Labs developed, Flarion’s system allows licensed wireless operators to provide fully mobile broadband services based on Internet Protocol (IP) at a low cost per subscriber.
“At SK Telecom, we understand the importance of evaluating innovative technologies that have the potential to make a big impact on business productivity and lifestyle,” said Jung Man Won, vice president of the SK Telecom business divisional group. “SK Telecom also recognizes the importance of close strategic relationships and has therefore decided to invest in Flarion.”
