BUENOS AIRES, Argentina-AT&T Corporation announced that its Latin American subsidiary will lose US$40 million during the fourth quarter of 2002 and into 2003. The majority shareholder remarked that it will not bail the subsidiary out. This situation places the AT&T Latin American partner near to defaulting on its debt of US$843 million and opens a serious discussion about its future.
AT&T Latin America operates using its own fiber optic network with wireless for the last mile in various localities.
