CHICAGO-Socket Communications Inc. has added Bluetooth capability to its In-Hand Scan Cards, making it possible for Pocket PCs, Pen Tablets, or other wireless devices to incorporate bar code scanners with wireless connectivity.
With the scan card, which will be available for developers in October, users can scan bar codes to connect wirelessly to mobile printers, notebooks, Bluetooth local area network access points, mobile phones and other Bluetooth devices, within a 30-foot radius.
Applications for the Bluetooth-enabled cards could include asset accounting, shipping/receiving, inventory management, patient clinical control, route delivery, field inspection, market research, and other mobile data collection activities.
