TOKYO-Access, a Tokyo-based venture, announced that it has developed browsing software for FOMA, the third-generation service provided by NTT DoCoMo. Access is going to provide the new browser software, which was developed based on Access’s proprietary NetFront version 3.0, to handset makers for FOMA.
Currently a dozen manufacturers are developing or providing FOMA handsets. Access is expecting to receive 500 million yen (US$4.1 million) in royalty fees from sales of the new browser.
Access is the leading Japanese embedded browser software manufacturer. It has been providing NetFront for i-mode handsets.
