TOKYO-Yozan, a venture business in Tokyo, is going to launch a new service combining PHS, wireless local area network (WLAN) and paging, the firm announced.
According to Yozan, the new services will provide high-speed data services by constructing Bit Stand, wireless data base stations, on streets, and Web Distributor, Internet telephone adopters, at home.
Yozan acquired Astel Tokyo, a major PHS carrier earlier this year. Yozan revised PHS base stations of Astel Tokyo into Bit Stands. As a first step for the consolidated services, Yozan will launch an experimental service using the Bit Stand in Tokyo in September at the earliest.
