MEDFORD, Ore.-U.S. Cellular Corp. donated a mobile cell site, 50 wireless phones and service to the Oregon Department of Forestry and local rescue workers battling the Squire Creek Fire, which has burned more than 2,600 acres and forced more than 200 residents to evacuate their homes.
In addition, the carrier said it is working with the American Red Cross to set up a courtesy wireless call center at a local elementary school where evacuated residents can make free local and long-distance calls.
