TOKYO-Omron, a pioneer of automated control equipment, developed what the company called a next-generation ticket gate system that lets mobile-phone users go through gates without train tickets, the firm announced. Train customers of the next-generation ticket gate system can go through gates just by holding their phones over the gates.
According to the firm, a gate lets users through after confirming the identifications of the customers through mobile phones by using Bluetooth technology. Omron demonstrated the system at Wireless Japan, an exhibition held in Tokyo beginning 17 July.
