KIRKLAND, Wash.—Nextel Partners Inc. pre-announced select results for the first quarter reporting it added 85,200 net subscribers during the first quarter of this year, ending the quarter with 601,100 wireless customers. The customer additions were in line with analysts’ estimates of around 82,000 new subscribers.
Customer churn for the quarter was 1.6 percent, the lowest in the wireless industry and the seventh consecutive quarter Nextel Partners has reported the result. Average revenue per user was approximately $68 for the quarter.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization was reported at a loss of $17.9 million for the quarter, just below the company’s previous estimate of an $18 million loss.
Nextel Partners is scheduled to report full first quarter results on May 2.
