Americans like lean toward neighborhood retail stores for cellular purchases

SAN FRANCISCO—A majority of Americans would prefer to buy a cellular phone from a local independent retailer in their neighborhood, according to a recent study commissioned by LetsTalk.com.

The study, which interviewed 1,004 Americans, showed: 37 percent would choose a local independent retailer; 19 percent would choose a national chain retailer; 19 percent would choose a wireless phone carrier’s retail store; 7 percent would choose an online retailer; and the remaining 19 percent said other, none, or refused to complete the survey.
