TORONTO—Research in Motion has landed a supply agreement with T-Mobile International, a group of wireless network operators belonging to telecommunications kingpin Deutsche Telekom. The deal, RIM’s second in Germany, is important because it will give the Waterloo, Ontario-based company access to the tens of millions of Deutsche Telekom customers.
RIM will now get the chance to sell its BlackBerry wireless device and related software services to T-Mobile’s 23 million German subscribers. RIM already has a supply agreement in Germany through Britain’s Mm02, which owns wireless operator Viag Interkom.
The announcement, made in Germany during the Canadian trade mission there, did not provide any financial details.
T-Mobile is expected to offer RIM’s devices in the summer when it launches its upgraded network. The two have also agreed to co-develop corporate data applications for the BlackBerry.
