NEW YORK—International Business Machines Corp., Microsoft Corp., Sun Microsystems Inc. and a few other companies are coming together to form an alliance known as the Web Services Interoperability Organizations to form standards for business transactions over the Web.
Other companies expected to join the group are BEA Systems Inc., Intel Corp. and Oracle Corp.
Some analysts think this vindicates Microsoft’s position on Web services.
