Globalstar expands service to Central Asia

SAN JOSE, California, United States—Globalstar said it began service throughout Central Asia, including Afghanistan, through its Russian service provider, GlobalTel. The company said its satellite communications service is already being used to support medical and humanitarian programs in Afghanistan.

Globalstar said media organizations and international aid organizations are already using the service. International roaming is available with other regions including Europe and North America.
