BEIJING, China—China Mobile has awarded Nortel Networks a contract of about US$78 million to expand its GSM cellular network in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region, and execute software upgrades in Xinjiang and three other areas, according to Nortel Networks.
“This is also the fifth GSM network expansion we have been selected to implement for China Mobile in Xinjiang,” said Robert Mao, chief executive officer, Nortel Networks China.
