Centennial launches CDMA in Jamaica

WALL, N.J.-Centennial Communications Corp. launched CDMA-based digital wireless service in Jamaica, noting it expects to offer customers next-generation services beginning next year.

Centennial currently provides digital service to more than 15 million potential customers in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“We have the widest wireless coverage of any carrier in the Caribbean, a region we believe is significantly underserved,” said the Carlos Bofill, chief executive officer of Centennial’s Caribbean operations. “This coverage is bolstered by our common technology platform, CDMA, throughout the region, which facilitates roaming and our extensive terrestrial and undersea fiber-optic broadband network throughout the Caribbean.”
