Colombia prepares to launch number portability

Beginning July 29, Colombian mobile users will be able to switch operators and keep their existing numbers. The number portability was possible by Decree 025 of 2002, the Number Portability Act (Act 1245 of 2008), Law 1341 in 2009 and Resolution 2355CRC in 2010.

The Commission for Communications Regulation (CRC) is responsible for regulating and promoting the rule, while Ministerio de TIC y la Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio (ICT Ministry and the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce), is the agency responsible for monitoring compliance of the standard.
