Une launches SIM card in MVNO model

In order to consolidate its services portfolio of NPlay, Colombian operator Une has launched La SIM, a SIM card that can be inserted into any phone that has open bands and is approved by Colombian regulators. La SIM operates under the MVNO model through Tigo’s network.

With this strategy, Une wants to increase its products penetration through the country, and rapidly increase the adoption of mobile broadband.

One of the main features is that La SIM seeks to promote the use of fixed telephones with a very competitive rate. According to Une, the minute value between the La SIM and fixed-lines will cost less than calls between La SIM and mobile phone from other operators. It’s estimated to cost US$ 7 cents in the first case and US$ 14 cents in the second.
