BlackBerry hopes to score with apps for Copa America

If you are a Brazilian or Argentinian soccer fan, you may be licking your wounds right now, what with both teams suffering humiliating defeat in Copa America – the American soccer cup – last weekend. However, if you are simply a soccer lover – and living in Latin America I think you are – you may still want to check out BlackBerry’s latest app for the event.

RIM has kicked off a series of apps to keep fans informed about the latest results and fixtures, as well as news from the championship.

The most interesting app for Copa America is of course the “scoring updates” which offers stories, scores and stats from the field. There’s also the Copa America for BlackBerry PlayBook app, which lets users watch the games live from their tablet.

The other apps are available for both the BlackBerry smartphones and PlayBook tablet, though some of them are available in Spanish only.

Most importantly, now that my personal favorite is out of the competition, I’m putting my faith in little Uruguay to be this year’s Copa America winner. Now where did I put my Vuvuzela app again?
