Blue Coat reviews its portfolio and focus on Latam

Around the world, Blue Coat is working to adjust its portfolio and transform itself into a company that addresses Web security, WAN optimization solutions, and offers cloud computing tools. In this direction, Blue Coat has just released CloudCoaching Engine, a new generation of WAN optimization.

Blue Coat is also making inroads in Latin America. The region is growing faster and becoming more important for the company’s global results. In the last fiscal year (from May 2010 to April 2011), Latam grew 30% while the global growth was around 6%.

Brazil and Mexico each represent 30% of the company’s total revenue. “Looking to 2012, we expect to have similar results since we believe the market is increasing, due to the Internet traffic rise and the adoption of enterprise social networks. Companies want to control the Internet traffic and don’t let it increase, so they need to optimize bandwidth usage,” said Latam vice president Norberto Milan.

Throughout 2009 and 2010, BlueCoat worked to adjust its portfolio, build a team and establish partners in Latin America. As result, the subsidiary counts 25 employees and 220 resellers. “Now, we are ready to go into the market focusing on big companies, which are those that our solutions fit better,” said Milan.
