Ecuador’s telecoms regulator Supertel is working with the Association of Municipalities of Ecuador (AME) to develop a draft ordinance to facilitate the mobile operators’ infrastructure deployment, local newspaper El Tiempo reports, citing Fabian Jaramillo, Ecuador’s telecommunications superintendent. According to Jaramillo, Supertel has monitored the quality of mobile services and has found that operators have coverage gaps or no capacity in certain areas. The regulator has thus required operators to install additional base stations.
