ANNAPOLIS, Md.—TeleCommunication Systems Inc. announced Cingular Wireless selected TCS as one of its vendors to supply E911 Phase I and Phase II solutions.
TCS also said it signed a letter of intent with Verizon Wireless to provide Phase I and Phase II services.
Under the agreement with Cingular, TCS will provide its Xypoint Location Platform, including database services and routers. The contract under negotiation with Verizon Wireless will put the pieces in place to help the carrier complete its Phase I deployment and get ready for Phase II location technologies, TCS said.
The Xypoint Location Platform enables public safety answering points to receive the cell site location, 10-digit callback number, name of the wireless carrier and the neighborhood where the call originated.
