Opera Software and NII Holdings samba their way to more Android users in Brazil

The Financial | March 22, 2011

The FINANCIAL — Opera Software announced on March 22 that the Opera Mini browser is now available on a second Android device offered exclusively by Nextel Brazil, the Motorola i886.

NII Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:NIHD), one of the leading providers of mobile communication services operating under the Nextel brand in Latin America, will now preinstall the Opera Mini browser on its latest Direct Connect Push-to-Talk (PTT) device, due to the success of the Motorola i1 in 2010, which was the first PTT Android-powered smartphone in Latin America to offer the Opera Mini 5 browser.

The Opera Mini browser is the world’s most popular mobile browser with more than 90 million active users. Its features such as Speed Dial, tabbed browsing, password manager and Opera Link, which synchronizes users’ bookmarks across multiple devices, make it the perfect dance partner for the Nextel Motorola i886.

“We are proud to offer Opera Mini and its innovative features to our valuable subscribers in Latin America to enhance their experience with our differentiated services and applications,” said Bob Ewald, Vice President Product Management for NII Holdings.
