AVL, SIS track stolen vehicles in Mexico

DETROIT—AVL Information Systems signed an agreement with Sistemas Informacion Satelital for distribution of AVL’s Chaperone personal tracking unit, which can be used on the Numerex Cellemetry wireless data network to track and locate stolen vehicles.
“SIS is very optimistic that Chaperone and the expanding coverage offered by the Cellemetry network will be a tremendous success in Mexico. In Mexico City alone, there are more than 4 million registered vehicles and an average of 125 stolen reports are registered every day,” said Victor Presichi, president of SIS.
Details of the agreement were not disclosed.
