Aycell to be operational in Turkey this month

LONDON—Turkey’s newest mobile-phone operator, Aycell, has announced it will be technically operational later this month.
Aycell, which is run by state-run telephone carrier Turk Telekom, issued a statement announcing that its infrastructure installation will be complete by 22 August across seven Turkish provinces. The statement did not give any indication of when Aycell is expected to begin signing up customers.
Aycell is the fourth cellular operator to be awarded a license to operate a GSM network and service in Turkey. The Turkish market currently comprises some 15 million mobile-phone users.
Aycell also revealed that it has signed roaming agreements with Turkcell and its rival Telsim and is negotiating with Aria, the joint venture between local commercial bank Is Bankasi and Telecom Italia Mobile.
