LAS VEGAS-GiantBear, a provider of wireless technology and services, will acquire Savos, a global wireless company that delivers streaming audio to the mobile public.
GiantBear’s proprietary technology, AudioCub, enables wireless carrier’s subscribers to request and receive information from the wireless Internet through audio delivery. Savos’ streaming audio technology will expand AudioCub, allowing mobile-phone users to access any streaming link on the Internet, including sporting events, financial analyst calls, radio station broadcasts, and other live Web events.
“Since reading text on a phone screen can be difficult or even dangerous, especially when walking or driving, the value of listening to wireless Web information on a mobile phone makes perfect sense. GiantBear focuses on the phone’s most basic function: delivering audio,” said GiantBear’s chief executive officer, James Green.
